Install in Windsurf

Windsurf cannot sign in, so it needs a token. Get one first.

1 · Open the config

In the Cascade panel click the MCPs icon (top right), then View raw config.

2 · Add the server

Paste this into the file, with your token, and save:

3 · Refresh

Click Refresh. brain appears with its tools on.

4 · Verify

Ask for a read-only call: kb_overview returns your workspace's knowledge summary.

Troubleshooting

The server does not appear after saving the file. Click Refresh on the MCP Servers panel; Windsurf only re-reads mcp_config.json on refresh. The field must be serverUrl.

"401" or "Unauthorized" with a token. Check the header is exactly Authorization: Bearer <your-token>, and that the token has not been revoked on Profile → MCP Tokens.

I connected, but there are no Brain tools. Clients read the tool list once, when they connect. Quit and reopen the app so it reconnects.
